TifTuf Bermudagrass was released just a few short years ago in 2014 and has become wildly popular. But its development by scientists at the University of Georgia took over 20 years, with research dating back to 1993. Over 20 years, researchers narrowed down what began as a field of over 27,000 hybrids to arrive at the single best variety, which was commercially released as TifTuf.

Today, in a relative blink of an eye, TifTuf has spread across the globe as a preferred sod, prized for its “vigorous, dense growth” and low water use.
