Held on March 8, 2016, the official “test event” for the golf course slated to host the 2016 Olympics golf competition in Rio de Janeiro attracted only nine Brazilian players but still earned top marks from contestants. One player described course as “an incredible venue” and “difficult, but not unfair.” She also said that course designer Gil Hanse and his team had done an “impressive job.”

The Olympics golf course is 88% grassed with Zeon Zoysia on the fairways and roughs.
